Welcome Collin!

We are so excited to announce the birth of our first child Collin Patrick Hardy. He arrived on Monday, March 3rd at 10:25 am. He was 7 pounds and 20 inches long. He is absolutely adorable!

Collin decided he wanted to meet mom and dad a little early. His actual due date was March 16th. However, around 10:00 pm on March 2nd when I went to sleep, I started to feel mild cramps. At first we thought nothing of it and tried to get some rest. Around midnight, they started getting stronger. Patrick called our doctor and they told us we were probably in the beginning stages of labor and to start timing the contractions. Over the course of an hour, they went from five minutes apart to one minute. The doctor told us to start heading to the hospital. Around 3:00 am when we arrived my contractions were so strong I could not even walk. The nurses immediately put me in a delivery room and found I was already 6centimeters dilated, thus why I was in so much pain. The nurse called for an epideral and within 30 minutes it was in and I was feeling much better. Around 7:30 am when my doctor arrived, I was 10 centimeters dilated and ready to give birth. After an hour and a half of pushing, Collin Patrick Hardy got to meet his mom and dad

Collin came into the world very quiet. He was making lots of cooing noises but not the typical crying you usually hear. After examining him, a special nursery team was called in to look at him. They determined that his blood sugar was very low and he had rapid breathing-70 breaths per minute. He was then sent upstairs to the Transition Nursery. That was so hard for Patrick and I since we could not go with him. He was there around 6 hours with mom and dad camped outside the window watching his every move. Around 9:30 pm he got to come back to us. We were so thrilled to be able to hold our baby boy in our arms and tell him how much we loved him. We both know God was with us that day in allowing everything to turn out great for Collin and nursing him back to perfect health!
