Hilton Head Island 2010

We just arrived home from a week long vacation to Hilton Head Island with the Hardy side of the family. This was Collin's third trip to Hilton Head and he absolutely loved it! Our trip started off somewhat hectic but turned out great. On the bridge onto the island, Collin began throwing up everywhere. We were literally stuck on top of the bridge in bumper to bumper traffic and had no clue what to do. Once he started turning pale and really cold I decided to call 911 and have them direct us to the nearest hospital. After an hour of testing, they determined he must have had a bout with carsickness (which he has never had before) or a virus. Luckily he was fine the next morning and our trip continued as planned.

Collin absolutely loved the beach this year! Our first day on the beach he took off running for the water and loved having the waves knock into him. He also enjoyed playing with all his beach toys, especially his big Tonka dump truck. He would run up and down the beach with it all morning. Our little man quickly learned that vacation is all about relaxation, and would steal our beach chair to sit and eat his morning snacks in it while people watching. Papa and his family were also in Hilton Head and Collin got to meet up with them several days. He loved going to there beach because it had little lagoons of water he could lounge in without getting splashed by the waves. Collin also got to see his first fireworks while at the beach at the Shelter Cove Marina. We were a little nervous he would be scared of the noise but he loved them! He let Daddy hold him the whole time and kept screaming "firework" each time they went off. The condo where the stayed also had a golf cart which Collin insisted on riding in all the time and a pond filled with turtles and alligators that Collin would go and visit each evening. We were so blessed we got to spend time with both our families and share another beach experience with Collin.

God Bless America

Yesterday we had a wonderful Fourth of July celebration with the Dunaway side of the family at Papa's house. Collin was especially excited to go because Papa's stepdaughter, Autie, was going to be there. As soon as we pulled in the driveway Collin began shouting for Autie, and took off running as soon as we let him out of the car. He played with her the entire time we were there! He even refused to take a nap because she could not sleep in the pack-n-play with him. Although he loved seeing the rest of his family, everyone else took a backseat to her. He was so worn out from five hours of playing nonstop and no nap that we did not make it to the fireworks. Luckily the neighborhood behind ours had some really good ones that Patrick and I watched but Collin was so tired he did not even hear them. We had a busy, but wonderful, holiday celebrating our country with family we love.

Red, White, and Blue Playgroup Crew

Today we had playgroup with a red, white and blue theme in honor of the Fourth of July. All of the children dressed in their most festive outfits and headed over to Charlie's house for a day of fun. All of the mommies were able to bribe the children with candy to get them to sit somewhat still for a group shot. Collin was most especially happy after the photo shoot when he got a big cookie with blue icing and sprinkles.
