Fun with Friends

Since a few of our playgroup mommies have had baby #2, Collin and I have volunteered to help out and have his friends come over and play with him for a little while so the mommies can get some things done. It actually works out well for me since it keeps Collin entertained and gives him someone besides Mommy to play with.

Playgroup Fun

Today our playgroup pals decided to meet at Northpoint Mall to play at the indoor play area they have. We got there right at 10:00 when the mall opened and it was packed with moms who had the same idea. Collin loved it! He loved looking at all the large truck slides and crawling under the tunnels. He most especially loved breaking loose from the play area and running around the mall. He must have heard Mommy saying Daddy needed some new work shoes and he was going to go and get them.

New Skills

Collin is starting to do so many new things lately and I just have to brag on him. His new fascination is pointing to everything and having Mommy or Daddy name it for him. He does this all the time. After we name things a couple of times we call out something for him to find and he can do it. What a big boy!

He is also obsessed with playing with his "Touch and Feel" notecards. He can find all of the cards in the "First Words" set and can recognize almost all of them in the "Animals" set except for the crab. He gets so proud of himself when he gets the answer right.

Collin also has started to refer to me as "Mama". This weekend when I was laying in the bed he came in the room and started hitting the bed for me to get up saying "Mama" over and over. It melted my heart. He is pretty much just saying "Mama", "Dada" and "uh" right now but we are anxiously awaiting to hear more.

He is also obsessed with running down the street. We spend about two hours outside every morning and Collin loves to just run up and down the sidewalks. This morning he went about half a mile total. He has also made a new doggie friend in the neighborhood he has to go and visit everyday named Rocky. Whenever I let Collin loose, he runs down the sidewalk to Rocky's house to see if he is outside. When he is, Collin just pets him and watches his every move. Sounds like a dog may be in our future if this obsession continues.

What a Week!!

This week has been such an adventurous one for little Collin. Mommy is plain worn out. Here is an overview of some of the things Collin got into.

Monday-Collin was playing peek-a-book with Mommy around a chair when he fell and busted his lip. Poor baby!

Tuesday-Collin was admiring his monkey towels in his bathroom and decided to close the door. This is fine except for the fact that he opened the drawer right by the bathroom door and got locked in. After about 5 minutes and debating whether or not to call the fire department to come and help, he closed the drawer so Mommy could retrieve him. And yes, the drawer was baby proofed but somehow he got it open.

Friday-Collin found an insect ant bait dome Daddy left sitting out on the floor by the window and decided to gnaw on it. Mommy caught him immediately but was a little worried so we had to call the Poison Control Center. In case you ever need to use them, they were very, very nice. Turns out Collin would have had to eaten three of them to ingest any poison. Whew!

After this happened, Collin somehow managed to pull the shelf holding all of the toys in his playroom down on him. Luckily he was okay but now it is bolted to the wall and we are in the process of bolting all of the furniture we have so we do not have another accident.

As you can see it has been a busy week around here. Let's hope things calm down in the future!

Happy Fourth of July

We hope that everyone has a wonderful Fourth of July. Here are a few pictures from our cookout at Papa's house this afternoon. Collin had a blast eating chicken nuggets and running around a non-baby proofed house.

Catch Air

Today Patrick and I took Collin to Catch Air. It is an indoor play facility for children that has tons of inflatables, blocks, slides, and other fun things for kids to do. It is in a huge warehouse where Collin was able to run free. He LOVED it! It took him a few minutes to warm up to the inflatables but then we could not keep him away from them. He especially loved going down the huge slide with Mommy and Daddy. Daddy would have to carry him up to the top and then he would take turns riding down with us. He loved it and had such a huge grin on his face the whole time. We will definitely be taking Collin back soon!
